This fly was extremely interested in the sawfly larvae and they did not like it. I never saw what it was trying to do.

I think in the second image the Bristle fly is laying eggs in the larvae of the Bottlebrush sawfly. Given the hammering that this sawfly does to callistemons this fly should re regarded as a hero.

Wow! That's very interesting. Thanks Michael. The fly looks to me just like a Calliphora stygia but I guess it is not, given its interest in the sawfly larvae.

Yes I was thinking that I needed to go back and check the Brown Blowfly sightings
